One of the things that can be done, is to ensure parties carry out quality strategic thinking fully cognisant of the complex environment. This is particularly important for weaker parties in situations of asymmetric conflict. This model allows for the strategic engagement of discourses and informs internal and external mediators of the full range of insights into linguistic intractability. At Strategies for Peace, we use a model for inclusive strategic thinking which was pioneered and developed by professor Oliver Ramsbotham through years of work hosting dialogues in Palestine/Israel, Yemen and Egypt. Much of this work was carried out at the Oxford Research Group, a UK-based global security think tank.
